What is Yeast?

August 30th, 2010 · Product Links

What is Yeast?

Generally speaking, yeast is simply a type of fungus, similar to
mushrooms. Astonishingly enough, there are currently more than 100,000 different types of fungus known to man, and yet scientists believe this is the only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, many scientists believe that there are as many as 2 million different types, many of which still need to be discovered.

One important fact to bear in mind is that not all types of fungus should be associated with plants, in that the two are completely different. Plants on one hand use chlorophyll to carry out photosynthesis, while fungus simply doesn’t have this ability, and as a result, fungus is unable to create its own food. Fungus is
also able to thrive in a wide variety of conditions, from extreme
cold to extreme heat; fungus can also spread by floating on air.
One common factor however is that practically all fungus tends to first manifest itself in moist environments, hence the reason why you’ll often discover fungus on old fruit, bread, and of course, on damp leaves and etc.

Amongst the few similarities with plants, many types of fungus are beneficial to humans, just as there are many which can be harmful.

Mushrooms, truffles, and yeast are all commonly used for making our
favorite recipes, beers and breads. Furthermore, together with
insects, fungus plays a vital role in terms of waste being able to
decompose.

If fungus can be so benefit for us, why do we tend to try and avoid it as often as we do? Essentially, this is because fungus can also result in illness, bearing in mind that by our very nature, we are an ideal host for many different types of fungus. Fungus is capable of growing under your fingernails, in your hair, your skin, and also on practically any other moist surface of your body. If you
think that this sounds a little disgusting, then you need to know
it gets even worse, in that fungus also inhabits the areas inside
our bodies. Even though this may not sound very appealing, it’s
just the way life works, and providing there’s no imbalance, you
have nothing to worry about. However, when the growth of fungus gets out of control, we end up with conditions such as athlete’s foot and yeast infections.

Medical professionals use two primary methods

March 26th, 2010 · Product Links

Medical professionals use two primary methods to diagnose yeast infections: microscopic examination, and culturing.

For the microscope method, a scraping or swab of the affected area is placed on a microscope slide. A single drop of 10% potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution is then also placed on the slide. The KOH dissolves the skin cells but leaves the Candida untouched, so that when the slide is viewed under a microscope, the hyphae and pseudo spores of Candida are visible. Their presence in large numbers strongly suggests a yeast infection.

For the culturing method, a sterile swab is rubbed on the infected skin surface. The swab is then rubbed across a culture medium. The medium is incubated for several days, during which time colonies of yeast and/or bacteria develop. The characteristics of the colonies provide a presumptive diagnosis of the organism causing symptoms.

Symptoms of Yeast Infection

March 22nd, 2010 · Product Links

Symptoms of yeast Infection

Symptoms include severe itching, burning, and soreness, irritation of the vagina and/or vulva, and a whitish or whitish-gray discharge.

Many women mistake the symptoms of the more common bacterial vaginosis for a yeast infection. In a 2002 study published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, only 33 percent of women who were self treating for a yeast infection actually had a yeast infection. Instead they had either bacterial vaginosis or a mixed-type infection.

In men, symptoms include red patchy sores near the head of the penis or on the foreskin.

Yeast Infection of the Penis. Designation Male Yeast Infection

March 18th, 2010 · Product Links

Yeast Infection of the Penis. Designation  Male Yeast Infection

Whenever you’re an adult male and believe you might have a yeast infection of the penis, you might not have any symptoms of Male Yeast Infection aka Candida albicans.

Uncircumcised gentlemen experience a somewhat higher danger of the head (glands) of their penis becoming contaminated (balantitis).

You may from time to time detect a slight yellowish to lily-white emission from the end (urethra) of the penis. You might likewise observe a slight discomfort after sexual intercourse. The end of the penis may be inflamed in a patchy pattern with scant white areas.

Although it doesn’t happen often in healthy men, the penis can become severely inflamed, swollen, and covered in white patches. This happens more often in men whose immune system has been damaged by some other factor.

Natural Treatment of Penis Yeast Infection

Monilia albicans infection oftentimes comes about in genitalia wherever skin chafes against skin.

It’s significant that your sexual mate be cared for as the transmission can be passed by intimate contact.

• Keep the area VERY dry.

• Avoid wearing wet clothing, such as bathing suits.

• Wear loose underwear and loose clothing.

• If using body powder, choose one containing unscented talc, not cornstarch. never use a cornstarch based powder

• Apply Tea Tree Oil The area twice daily for one week.

• Apply Garlic Oil to the area twice daily for one week.

• Apply Gentian Violet or Crystal Violet Solution 1% once.

• Apply Bergamot Oil to the area once daily for a week Note: if the area is exposed

to sunlight, it will tan differently

• Use ointments, such as lanolin, to stop skin from rubbing against skin. (Gentian Violet or Crystal Violet solution is available at pharmacies or chemists. )

Prevention of Penis Yeast Infection is very possible. One needs to use a condom, when aving sexual intercourse. Keep the genital area dry and wear loose clothing.  Do not wear wet clothing.  If you experience excessive perspiration in the genital area, causing the area to be

Chronically damp, use an antiperspirant. I personally like ti injest a container of Natural organince yogert on a daily basis

Yeast Infection on Face of Babies:

March 10th, 2010 · Product Links

Yeast Infection on Face of Babies:

Yeast infection mainly occurs in females. Parents need to take very good care to see that their babies do not come in touch with this infection. In toddlers, yeast infection mainly occurs on the face. Babies are at a high risk of getting yeast infection.

Yeast infection on the face occurs in babies due to high usage of drugs/anti-biotic given to them directly or through breast-feeding. Both these factors contribute to developing yeast infection on the face of babies.

The most common symptoms of this infection developing on the face of babies are a white colored discharge from the mouth of the baby. Sometimes there are white color patches found on the cheeks of the baby and different parts of face and body. Another major symptom is white patches seen on the tongue and gums of the babies.

The most natural way to cure this yeast infection on face of babies is to apply some yogurt on the area of rashes that provide quick relief. Another way of treating this kind of infection on face of babies is by bathing them in a solution of apple vinegar.

Special care need to be taken, when the symptoms occur. Seek medical assistance immediately if any symptoms recur on the face of the babies. Any delay in treatment of this condition will result in multiplication of the bacteria and will lead to further complications.
